Most of us never set out to become “career” affiliate marketers but if you’re lucky, this can actually be a possibility and yes, you can make a full time living out of affiliate marketing if you know how to do it right.
This guide will show you what you need to know if you are considering getting into affiliate marketing, but one question I also want to focus on is;
How stable is a career in affiliate marketing?
Let me start off by saying this; affiliate marketing is not for everyone.
You absolutely need to know what you are going to expect when you decided to try it out and that is what this post will hopefully show you.
I have been an affiliate marketer for close to 7 years now so I do know the ropes of it all but it can be a wild journey.
On some days I wake up to $700 commissions and on others to $0 – this is not for the faint-hearted.
Any business, not just affiliate marketing, is a risky venture. Most businesses fail and more often than not, it’s the fault of the person behind it that caused it to fail – this is more pressure on your back.
But what about affiliate marketing?
Can affiliate marketing be a career?
Yes, affiliate marketing as a career can be extremely profitable, but not now, later (I will expand on this soon).
Starting out, in your first 6 to 12 months or so, you are going to need to dedicate a lot of time into your affiliate business with no hopes of making an income.
Sounds harsh and demotivating? You have no idea.
It’s stressful, but it’s not all bad either.
Let me give you some benefits of affiliate marketing to cheer you up before I go on about how to make affiliate marketer a “career”.
Being Your Own Boss
Having no boss to deal with is a great thing, but only if you’re the harshest meanest boss you can be – to yourself.
If you think you can just get the “affiliate marketing job” and stay slacking off not doing much, then you are destined to fail and it’s going to be all your fault.
Be a BOSS in life and affiliate marketing will pay you well. More than you can ever imagine even. You just need to be a bit strict with yourself and make sure you are running it like a business rather than a hobby.
Passive Income
Passive income is wonderful. The fact that at any point during the day I can make money is one of the biggest benefits things that attracted me to affiliate marketing a “career choice” if you want to call it that.
I can make money while I’m working on my desk, while I’m at a restaurant, while I’m on a plane or while I visit my family abroad.
I could be in the most obscure regions of the world and still make money.
If this’s isn’t enough reason to really make an effort to learn affiliate marketing, let me give you another one quickly.
The Potential To Make $$ As Much As You Want
Yes, starting out you are going to fail – it’s part of the learning curve.
There are going to be pitfalls, you are going to do things wrong and it’s going to take a hell of a lot of time in order to really understand the concept of it all.
But, once you do and once you finally “nail it”, the sky is the limit.
I’ll give you a story of my own about this…
I started with one niche website, then I opened another one, then another one, then an e-commerce store.
All these combined make me enough to make a career out of it – but I don’t really see it as a “career” to be honest.
The point behind is that once you get it, you get it and you can keep expanding what you have without any limits.
Want to start 100 niche websites? Go for it. As long as you understand what it takes to build 1 successful affiliate site, you can do it all over again.
Of course, you are going to need help in doing so (like hiring content writers), but it is still possible and you can still be able to run your affiliate marketing business wherever you are in the world.
My plan for 2018 and 2019 is to continue to expand my portfolio of affiliate websites.
I have worked out that in order to get a site profitable, I need 30 posts. When using content writers, this will bring the total cost to $600 to $800.
At around 30 posts, I will be bringing in enough traffic and revenue in time to cover my initial expense and then start making passive profits every month – this is the power of affiliate marketing.
It’s all a numbers game and once you have your numbers, you’re good to go. But…
How Stable Is A Career In Affiliate Marketing?
I say affiliate marketing is indestructible, but I also know that it can all be taken away from me by a simple Google algorithm change or one of my affiliate programs shutting down.
While this is a rarity, and I have never been hurt by a Google algo-change, I do know it’s a possibility.
So is it stable or not? Not really no.
You can make it stable by diversifying and spreading your risk but as I said, not now… later.
If you are beginner reading this, then you need to focus on one site for now and work to make that a success. Once you do have money coming in, then start investing and look at other forms of making passive income.
I also invest my profits in cryptocurrencies which bring in a decent ROI and I also plan to start investing in real estate in 2 to 3 years from now so then that would be safe and stable.
Hence why not now, but later.
How Can You Make A Career Out Of Affiliate Marketing?
The first thing you need to do is to get rid of the idea that you are going to quit your job and instantly make 6-figures online.
Keep your job for now and invest in training.
It’s very easy to get the wrong information about affiliate marketing as there is a lot out there of it, however, there is a training course that you can take to start learning about it.
It’s a free membership site (with premium options if you really want to scale) but as a starter member, you will be learning a lot of things on how to make affiliate marketing a profitable career for you.
